Alors que c’est il passe en 2 ans me direz-vous ?
Je vais vous le raconter en plusieurs parties sinon ça va être le Bazard.
Partie famille, Bar et expatriation.
Donc nous finissons par arrêter la location chez notre chère Barbara, qui en 6 mois c’était pointe pas loin de 10 fois, problème d’évacuation, de l’eau partout.
Ensuite vérification du ménage, elle m’a personnellement rapporté le bon produit pour nettoyer les joints de salle de bain, non mais la blague !
Et aussi pour expliquer d’utiliser les chauffages grilles pain, plutôt que sa clim réversible !
Tout ceci sans prévenir, et en rentrant sans qu’elle nous laisse le choix.
Bref un joli bobard sur les enfants et hop, fin du bail.
Pour info nous étions sur la 20th Streets de Brooklyn, c’était une petite maison avec devanture, donc on y était méga bien. Mais propriétaire plus qu’encombrante, nous étions en meublé, et ce qui est sûr, c’est que Barbara n’a pas le gout de la simplicité. Meubles imposants, lit bois massif, peinture nature morte et et et le meilleur pour la fin, fausse fleur !
Nous décidons donc de choisir un non meuble, et ce n’est pas un souci ici car nous avons plein d’option pour meubler rapide et pas cher.
1/ IKEA, oui pas très loin, option choisie pour les lits et literie
2/ Salvador Army, la Croix rouge, là il y a tout ! Une sorte de Emaus, nous avons pris nos canape ici, en seconde main, bon état, et seulement $175 les deux, donc 5 assises.
3/ La rue, il faut savoir que Park Slope est une pépite pour ça, donc vous sortez le vendredi et samedi et il y a tout ce dont vous avez besoin. Nous avons trouvé nos ustensiles de cuisine, meuble tv, télé de Cloé, meuble chaussure, aspirateur et j’en passe. Davy est le champion.
4/ Costco, espèce de big magasin en gros, tu achètes du PQ tu en as pour l’année, tu vois le délire. Nous avons pris les télés pour le salon et notre chambre ici.
5/ Groupe Buy Nothing Park Slope, sur Facebook on s’est réuni pour éviter le gaspillage, et nous proposons de tout, et prévenons si nous voyons des bonnes affaires sur le trottoir !
En soit j’ai dépensé peut-être $2000 en tout et pour tout.
La bonne chose de la seconde année, c’est que ma fille ai change d’école. Nous avons passé une année avec une bonne école de merde, bagarre, drogue, insolence, welcome ! J’ai insisté, genre 50 fois, auprès de l’école publique internationale pour qu’ils la prennent, mais la 1ere ils étaient plein, en revanche la seconde année elle était bien inscrite, et avec ses copines. Oufff une adolescente contente !
Cette école internationale fait de la 6eme au BAC, donc Sasha l’a intégré, beaucoup plus facilement vue que la frangine était déjà là, cette année, soit 2020 (on reparlera de cette année de merde plus tard bien entendu).
Pour l’appartement ce fut une vraie aventure, donc chez Barbara nous payons $2500 pour la petite maison avec 2 chambres et la devanture.
Nous recherchions dans ces prix, mais pour le quartier ce fut difficile, nous avons finalement trouve un appartement 3 chambres, car les deux compères ne s’entendent pas dans 1 chambre, très bien fait, neuf, a deux rues pour $2700.
Et croyez-moi ce n’est pas cher, non non ! La superficie ? Aux alentour de 60 m2, non non ce n’est pas une blague.
Là-dessus tu paies ton mois de caution, le mois de caution supplémentaire pour le chien (pas de blague je vous dis), et l’agent immobilier. Donc tu veux t’expatrier, raboule le fric, car c’est méga cher.
Pour te donne une idée donc ce nouvel appartement : cout $10.800 oui il faut payer le mois en avance normal
Mais 6 mois avant nous avons fait appel a ce même agent donc la maison de Barbara : $7.500
En 6 mois de temps, nous avons donc déboursé $18.300 juste pour le logement, allez j’arrondis à $20.000 fournitures comprises.
Heureusement les écoles sont gratuites !
Mais on se sent enfin chez nous. Bail de 2 ans, et déménagement chaotique.
Je déménage un jour de beau temps, mais pas de clés, ça a pris la journée a l’agent immobilier de nous ouvrir la porte. Le stress tout était dehors prêt à être déménagé, gros soleil, impeccable. Et toi t’attends comme un con ! On a dû avoir les clés a 18h, truc de fou.
Et le lendemain grosse pluie. Ouf.
Ici tu signes, tu paies, mais tu n’es jamais sûr que tout va bien se passer. Ça nous donnait 2/3 jours pour laver la maison de Barbara, qui nous remercie aujourd’hui encore.
Aujourd’hui février 2021 nous terminons le bail le mois prochain. Nous sommes super bien dans cet appartement, mais 2 défauts :
1/ La chambre de Sasha fait 5 m2 et celle de Cloé 7m2, donc un poil trop petit, surtout après le confinement je vous assure que ça compte.
2/ le métro passe sous le building, et une 2 fois deux voies passe sous les fenêtres, donc quand tu es tranquille dans ton lit, la nuit, tu sens des légères secousses du au train. Et l’été tu n’ouvre pas les fenêtres, sinon concerto de klaxon mon gars !
Le covid aura eu du bon : baisser les loyers.
Nous décidons donc de trouver plus grand, avec extérieur, pour le même loyer. Mais alors sans frais d’agence ! Car mon dieu, ça vaut le coup pour eux dis donc.

But owner more than cumbersome, we were in furniture, and what is certain is that Barbara does not have the taste of simplicity. Imposing furniture, solid wood bed, dead paint and and best of all, false flower! So we decide to choose a non furniture, and this is not a concern here because we have plenty of options for fast and cheap furniture.

In any case, I spent maybe $2000 in all and for everything. The good thing about the second year is that my daughter changed schools. We spent a year with a good school of shit, fighting, drugs, insolence, welcome! I insisted, like 50 times, to the International Public School to take her, but the first year they were full, but the second year she was well enrolled, and with her girlfriends. Oufff a happy teenager! This international school does 6th grade at the BAC, so Sasha integrated it, much more easily seen that the sister was already there, this year, that is to say 2020 (we’ll talk about this shitty year later of course).
For the apartment it was a real adventure, so at Barbara’s we pay $2500 for the small house with 2 bedrooms and the front. We were looking in these prices, but for the neighborhood it was difficult, we finally found a 3 bedroom apartment, because the two friends don’t get along in 1 bedroom, very well done, new, has two streets for $2700. And believe me it’s not expensive, no no! The surface area? Around 60 m2, no no it’s not a joke. On this you pay your month’s deposit, the extra month’s deposit for the dog (no joke I tell you), and the real estate agent. So you want to move abroad, so you can save the money, because it’s very expensive. To give you an idea about this new apartment: cost $10.800 yes, you have to pay the month in advance normally. But 6 months before we called this same agent so Barbara’s house: $7,500. In 6 months of time, we spent $18,300 just for housing, rounding up to $20,000 including supplies. Luckily the schools are free!
But we finally feel at home. 2 year lease, and a chaotic move. I move one day of good weather, but no keys, it took the real estate agent all day to open the door for us. The stress, everything was outside ready to be moved, sunny, perfect. And you’re waiting like an idiot! We had to get the keys at 6pm, crazy thing. And the next day big rain. Phew. Here you sign, you pay, but you’re never sure that everything is going to go well. That gave us 2/3 days to wash the house of Barbara, who thanks us still today.
Today February 2021 we finish the lease next month. We are great in this apartment, but 2 defects: 1/ Sasha’s room is 5m2 and Cloé’s is 7m2, so a hair too small, especially after the confinement I assure you that it counts. 2/ the subway passes under the building, and one 2 times two tracks pass under the windows, so when you are quiet in your bed, at night, you feel light shakes due to the train. And in the summer you don’t open the windows, it’s a horn concerto my man! The covid will have had a good time, lowering the rents. So we decide to find a bigger place, with outside, for the same rent. But then without agency fees! Because my god, it’s worth it for them. I am still looking for this day so to follow
